When Sony says, “weather sealed,” they MEAN “WEATHER SEALED!”

Just a quick blurb because I was thoroughly impressed with Sony and its efforts in the ‘weather sealing’ department.

I took my kit to Montreal with me from January 14 - January 19, 2022. During such time, we had a pretty good snow storm. Naturally, my first instinct was to hit the streets nice and early and get out there to capture the flurries of madness!

6:00am - I hopped off the Metro at the Peel station and immediately went outside. It was snowing pretty good at this point and it was awesome because it was still dark so I had a lot of leeway in playing with various lights and conditions.

8:00am - the sun was fully up and MAN the snow was coming down! I was at La Source at this point trying my luck at a photo that I have been wanting to make. Conditions made it impossible since visibility was virtually nothing.

9:00am - At this point, I was wandering around the Old Port and the snow was at its heaviest yet! This made for some AWESOME shots and I took full advantage.

I ended up shooting for another 2.5 hours as I trekked all over the city. Then, I took the Metro back to Rosemont and embarked on the 25 minute walk from the Cadillac station to my family’s condo.

11:30am - 12:00pm - ABSOLUTE MADNESS! The snow is fat, heavy, and thick. My backpack is covered with snow and my camera hasn’t been put away once in the last 6 hours. Even more impressive is the fact that my battery was doing great! Normally the cold is a battery killer, but mine stayed above 50% even through 6 hours of shooting!

All of this to say that the camera body and lenses held up amazingly and I am beyond impressed! Take it for what it’s worth, but I’ve put this kit through a pretty brutal 6 hours and it cruised through it like it was nothing!
